Keystone Milestones

February 23rd thru April 13th

Keystone Milestones is a new health and wellness initiative the SCPRA will introduce as a program in 2024, with the expectation it become a yearly occurrence.

Participation in the program is designed to be a personal plan to get more active, not a competition amongst those involved. Regardless of ability level it is inclusive to those just starting their journey or those on a more advance path — we are on the same team!

We want it to fit your comfort level and offer an ‘at-your-own’ pace approach to help you reach goals, the goals you set for yourself — and serve as the milestone markers you hope to achieve not just during this 50 day period, but that become healthier lifestyle habits.

It will be a self-reporting, comfortable, and specific-to-you way to get started on your health and wellness journey, or continue on the one you have going.

The program will link our individual pursuits, offer motivation, and provide accountability.

Ready. Set. GOALS!

Why be apart of this program?

What’s the point of your involvement you might ask, or maybe you want to understand the benefits of why you would participate.

The idea of this, beyond getting you more active, is to create a community of people that are connected. We’d like to coordinate meetup groups, where people get together to do activities. We’d like to hear about your health, and do feature stories on your progress. We’d like to know what you’re doing, and offer a chance to share your feats. We’d like to stay informed, and provide recipes and advice to one another. We’d like to promote local business, and give back to you with random weekly prizes.

An entry fee to be associated with Keystone Milestones, it gets you more than just a receipt to a self-made workout plan. It allows you to inspire others and find inspiration in others — and have a little friendly competitiveness if you so choose, and maybe win a prize too.

HOW Does This Work?

Still not sure what you need to do, or what exactly is required.

Well, it’s all on you. You can sign-up just for a chance to win a prize if that’s your motivation, or if you sign-up and then start slacking with the effort — no one is there to judge you, nor would you be failing in any way. You report to yourself, and keep track of your own progress.

You will be able to link your fitness device, such as a FitBit or AppleWatch (among others) with connectivity to a specific mobile-app. This feature will help calculate automatically what you’re doing and register your data. If you do not have a fitness device to track this way, don’t worry — you can still use the manual input feature to record the data yourself.

What if you take a day off? Do it. Rest! You can always push yourself harder the next day.

The expectation is for your to work at your own-pace. Remember, there is no winner.

The concept is to equate movement, and the activities you do into an expectation that 20 minutes of activity is equal to one mile. Therefore, data will be recorded in mileage. For example, 2,000 steps also is equal to one mile. Or you can go mile for mile if you’re a runner, walking, or cycling.

Maybe you shoveled snow for 20 minutes. That’s 1 mile of activity.

Maybe you played with the dogs in the yard for 20 minutes. That’s 1 mile of activity.

Maybe you moved 2,000 steps cleaning the house. That’s 1 mile of activity.

What you do and how you do it, is not as important as you getting up and doing it.
